Chypre Class: Chypre is a family of fragrances in which oakmoss, patchouli and woody are predominantly felt, which usually opens with citrus notes. While chypre perfumes evoke the past, they also reflect a sophisticated femininity.

Floral Fragrances: This family consists of perfumes whose main theme is flowers. Floral scents can be observed as tangible references in nature, just like citrus scents. Perfumes containing singular flowers are called “solifores”. Perfumes that bring together more than one flower are called bouquets. In traditional perfumery, floral notes are used in almost every fragrance family.

What is Perfume?

Perfume, by definition, is the general name of the mixtures obtained from scented oils, aromatic mixtures and various chemical substances and used to give a fragrance to the human body, various objects, and the environment.

Essences are essential oils obtained from flowers and fragrant plants and are obtained by distillation or squeezing. Essence usage rates determine the perfume types.

Perfume extract: 20-40% essence

Eau de parfum (EdP): 10-30% essence

Eau de toilette (EdT): 5-20% essence

Eau de cologne (EdC): 2-5% essence

Splash perfume (EdS): ~ 1% essence

The Concept of ‘Notes’ in Perfume:

The stages of spreading the scent of a perfume are called ‘notes’ and there are three stages; top note, middle note, and bottom note.

Top note: It is the first fragrance taken when the perfume is squeezed and consists of the most volatile essences. It disappears within 2 to 5 minutes.

Middle note: Also called the “heart notes”, meaning the most important part. It is the part that determines the “theme” / “character” of the perfume. The most obvious form occurs when the issue is settled on the skin and its permanence is usually about 20 minutes.

Bottom note: This part is the expression of the true personality, permanence and success of the perfume. Its permanence depends on the concentration of perfume used (approximately 6 to 8 hours).

To obtain a successful product; There must be a harmonious transition between notes.
